Queen of the Box

Who's Queen of the Box - she who sits inside, or she who sits guard on top?

More Sunday Times

There's just no keeping these gals away from the New York Times. There's something that they just love - whether it's the paper itelf or the ink or just the fact that they can crawl under and create a dark hideout.

One boxed to go and the other going nowhere

I awoke this morning to find this scene waiting for me in the livingroom

Catching Up

It's been a while since posting - but, the gals are fine and having fun sunning themselves and getting into all kinds of trouble.

On the prowl...

You just know something's up when the two of them are sitting and staring at something that they wouldn't ordinarily be staring at. In this case, they've been sitting for about 15 minutes, focusing on the same spot, at the bottom of the livingroom wall unit. I'm sure they spotted a bug and are waiting for it to come out again. This was about an hour after I spotted a very, very fast moving centipede in the bedroom. I'm sure it could have made it to the livingroom by now, but, my guess is they found another one. I'm convinced the one in the bedroom is waiting to attack me while I sleep tonight.

How's the air back there?

Poor Coco must be thinking, "I hope Tigger didn't eat the Fancy Feast Bean Dip for dinner."

The more I see these two in this position, the more I wonder which came first... the chicken or the egg - OR- how'd they get in this position, anyway? Do you think Tigger backed into Coco and wrapped her hind legs around Coco's neck? Or, did Coco crawl between Tigger's hind legs and then somehow get her own rear end underneath Tigger's. I can't figure this one out.

The Sunday NY TImes

[Click photo to enlarge]

[Click photo to enlarge]

Reading the Sunday New York Times will never be the same with these gals around! OK, I admit it - I'm one of those strange types who likes to spread out on the livingroom floor on Sunday mornings and read the NY Times at a leisurely pace. That has now become impossible - but, who's complaining?

Tigger (the slut) seems to have some weird attraction to smell or feel of the ink or of the paper itself. She lies stretched out across the full width of the paper and rubs the side of her face against it. If I pet her while she's doing this, she must smell on my hand whatever it is about the newspaper that drives her wild, and she goes crazy licking my fingers.

Coco is no better - I think she's crazy for the same smell/feel of the ink/paper or whatever. Only she shows her affinity in a different manner - she dives under the newspaper and tries to remain completely covered by it.... you may recall similar behavior after her surgery, when we needed to use newspaper instead of litter in the litterbox.

Hugs & Hisses

[Click photo to enlarge]

Hmmmmmm. They were licking each other, then a few seconds later there was hissing. When I looked back at them, I saw Tigger's paws around Coco's neck. Was wondering, at first, if this was a hug or an attempted strangulation;-)

Caught Ya!

[Click photo to enlarge]

Unlike Spooky Velvet, a former feline resident here, Coco doesn't seem to be obsessed with plants. However, I did catch her showing a bit of interest here (until she heard me approaching).

Fetch!

[Click photo to enlarge]

We came home and found one of the cat toys in the bedroom - about 40 linear feet from where it had been before we left, in the livingroom. Of course we thought it had to be Coco who somehow got it from here to there. But, about an hour later, while watching TV, Tigger came walking into the livingroom carrying the toy in her mouth.

Lots o' Tongue Action

OK, I know it seems like Tigger and Coco are confined to the two recliners, but, I can assure you that's not the case. It's just that they gravitate to one or both of these chairs and this is where most of their cute moments take place.... like this serious tongue action that's going on here;-)

Just Sitting and Relaxing

Tigger - sitting on the recliner. This doesn't look too comfortable to me. But, it must be comfortable for her. I've never seen a cat sit like this on a chair.

The Non-Litter Box

Coco is supposed to use a litter-free litter box during her recovery. Newspaper is suggested instead of litter. However, just as she won't wear her cone, she won't use the litter-free box as a bathroom. She does, however, find it a good place to play hide 'n' seek in.

Feeling Better!

Coco is feeling better - on the 5th day after her surgery. We're still keeping an eye on her to make sure she doesn't irritate her surgery site, since she won't wear her cone. With her strength back and her running wild, this is not an easy task. Here she is on the bookcase on top of my dresser.

The Rug

Tigger (aka The Rug) is in her usual position, except, this time it's on the bed

Ring my Bell

I'm trying to train them to ring the bell. Coco rang it three times so far, but, mostly by mistake (I think). Tigger hasn't gone near it. Coco learned to give me head-butt every time she comes around, but, Tigger won't have any part of that either. So, in addition to ConeHead, Coco's other nickname is ButtHead.

Cone Head - Coco

Poor Coco is NOT liking her cone after her being spayed. She looks like a cat from outer space and is scaring the crap out of Tigger!

Reclining

They've settled in and have decided that the two recliners belong to them. However, every now and then, they'll cuddle together on one chair and leave the other recliner for us.

Introducing Tigger and Coco

Tigger
About 2 years old - adopted from Bide-a-Wee on July 4 weekend. Tigger is a mush cat. In fact, that's one of her nicknames. The other is "the Rug" because she spreads out on the floor like a rug.

Coco
Adopted along with Tigger.

Coco is a terror! She's the troublemaker of the pair - a bad influence on Tigger.
